ARTISTIC Director :: Joey Coray
Joey Coray studied choral music and music education at San Jose State University, where he trained under Dr. Charlene Archibeque of the SJSU Choraliers. Though worship ministry is his calling, he has been a choir enthusiast for over 20 years. He has sung as a part of several advanced choral and vocal groups, served as the Big Valley High School choir director for four years, and has directed many church choir performances. He has written and arranged several pieces for choir. He is known for taking inexperienced singers and releasing their potential for excellence. The second and third pictures include many of his life long friends as well as two of his mentors - Dr. Charlene Arhibeque (middle) and Elena Sharkova (bottom left) artistic director for Silicon Valley’s Cantabile. Fun fact: Joey was a lead singer with the premier Silicon Valley big band A Touch of Brass for 10 years, where he “crooned” for events such as the San Jose Jazz Festival and large corporate parties for companies like Samsung.

POSSIBLE MUSIC SELECTIONS
DETAILS & Ethics
Rehearsals will be every two weeks on Sundays from 5:30pm - 7:30pm at Modesto Covenant Church in the Worship Arts Room.
Singers must bring their own black three ring binder, a pencil, and all music to every rehearsal.
Singers MUST communicate with kindness and respect as they interact with each other and the director.
Not all singers will be at the same exact skill level, so each will maintain a gracious attitude towards each other.
Notes given by the director should be written into the music by each singer.
Each singer will each purchase their own music.
Honoring each other’s time and prioritizing being on time to rehearsals.
This group will include singers of different faith backgrounds, personal convictions, ethnicities, belief systems, and political points of view; so, it is critical that rehearsals and performances remain neutral spaces for creating friendships and singing beautiful music together.
